A
boat trip to Fontana Amaroza is also
possible,
there is also a hoist for wheelchair
users who feel brave enough to dip into the sea.
The trips are held between April and October
(weather permitting!)
The boat leaves the harbour at 10.30 hrs and returns 3 hours later
at 13.30 hrs. Unfortunately there is no disabled toilet on board but
with good planning, I am sure you can overcome this!
There is a ramp for both manual and electric wheelchairs, down to
the boat as well as onto the boat.
IMPORTANT - Regrettably, the use of the ‘hoist’ to lower a person
into the sea is only advisable if you are a strong independent
swimmer and have strong upper body mobility, and you are able to
steady yourself as you are lowered. You must have an able companion
travelling with you as a matter of safety, should a need arise, as
there is no lifeguard on duty on this boat trip.
However, please do not let the fact that you are unable to go into
the sea spoil your enjoyment of being on board the boat, as it truly
is a wonderful experience. Assistance is given to help a less able
bodied person or wheelchair user to board the boat.
If
in doubt, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will gladly
advise. We must stress that we cannot be held liable for any
incidents that could occur and that it is your personal choice as to
whether you fit the criteria to be hoisted overboard into the sea. |
